Juniors
The juniors is the biggest part of the club, which
is shown by the amount of junior players now playing senior football for the
club. The junior side of the club is growing every year. At Balga we provide one
of the cheapest & friendliest place to play & learn Soccer. The Juniors is run
by a highly dedicated team, leading the way is Sharon Stewart. Who has stepped
up to carry on the great work done by Sonya Shorto. After the sudden passing of
Sonya in October 2006 a fund was set up to help the under privileged kids. Not
just on the field but off it as well. If you would like more information on the
help we can provide to kids please
contact us at balgasc@hotmail.com . This
year the juniors have grown again to big numbers, but we are always welcoming to
new players and helpers.
Congratulation to Abdul Kamara who has been selected to be
a part of the High Performance 12’s squad. This is the first step for Abdul
to be selected for a state squad in years to come.
Abdul has been Balga Soccer Clubs first applicant to receive a scholarship
from the Sonya Shorto Memorial Fund. The Sonya Shorto Memorial Fund was set
up to assist players to enchance their advancement in the sport in the
fields of:- Coaching, Refereeing, Club Administraion or Sports training and
Injury treatment. There are two scholarships available each year and they
are a first step to a possible career or at least a fuller involvement in
the sport with supplementary income available throughout your life.
Well Done Abdul!
The Balga Soccer Club on behalf of the Sonya Shorto Memorial Fund invite
applications from players registered with the Club, who are between the ages

scholarship, which are available.
The HPC (Formerly the Football West Academy) has been structured to provide
an all-inclusive year round program intended to complement, rather than
compete with, local in-season club training and games. The High Performance
Centre (HPC) identifies talented football players and is intended to form
part of a uniform FFA talent identification structure starting from under
nine through to National Championship age groups.
